Activity description

Go sea kayaking in the blue waters of Rhodes island and explore the bays and the rocky or sandy beaches all around the island. With three different routes to explore, sea kayaking is a safe and fun experience for everyone! You do not need to know how to kayak, as the instructors of Rhodes Roads are there to show you the dos and don'ts, as well as showing you around. You will see the rocky islets, the isolated beaches with red sand, and bays that cannot be reached otherwise. You will also go snorkeling on some tours to explore the underwater world. Each kayak can fit two people! All you need to know is how to swim. The ancient acropolis and the beautiful landscapes surrounding you will leave you speechless! The rock formations and the vertical rocky walls are unique while going around with the kayak.

The program

Around 9 o'clock you will be picked up from your accommodation by the instructor who will have everything equipped in the car. You just need to bring your swimming suit. After that, you will arrive at the starting point to begin your tour. After 1-2 hours you will arrive in the bay where you can relax at the beach, eat something, and then go snorkeling. After you will ride back your kayak and go kayaking in another spot. Around 16:00 pm arrival at the end point where you will be picked up by the car and return back to your accommodation.

As sea kayaking needs flat water to be performed, all activities are weather dependent and can be altered if there are waves. Of course in the bays, the waters are always calmer. Confirm with your instructor prior to the activity.

Offer Description

The route starts from the edge of a sandy beach located midway down the eastern side of Rhodes. Heading south in the direction of Lindos, you will row between two small rocky islets and enter a small bay formed by a sea cave. Rowing around the rocky coastline in front of the town of Archangelos, you then come across two isolated beaches with red sands, which are otherwise hard to access by land. They’re an ideal spot for a refreshing dip in the sea and a traditional Greek salad.

After that, you will have the chance to see amazing rock formations, small sea inlets and the stunning natural curve of Agia Agathi Beach. Before the gloriously sandy Agia Agathi Beach you will stop to snorkel in a small bay with a stunning seabed and small cave that we can swim through.

This brings you close to the medieval Haraki Castle located on the cape before Lindos as you head south. Rowing round this small cape you will arrive at Haraki Beach, with its white pebbles and crystal clear waters. You will then finish up in the tiny fishing port at the start of Kalathos Bay. There you can see the glistening shimmer of Lindos and its ancient acropolis in a distance.

It was a great workout, nicely balanced with two stops and time to enjoy a swim and a simple but tasty lunch.

We are so glad that we did sea kayaking as it was the perfect closure of our trip to Rhodes. Dimitris is a great guide and told us interesting things about the island. The spots we visited were well chosen too. It all felt very adventurous while we were kayaking from beach to beach and climbing through small caverns. The humble Greek salad we had for lunch was nice and provided the right nutrition for this intensive activity.

Sea Kayaking

Sea kayaking in the footsteps of the pirates was amazing. You kayak alongside majestic cliffs, stop off at a beach where there are no other people and can snorkel. We had lunch on another secluded beach after exploring the nearby caves. This experience was truly worth every penny!

Superb location, route and good equipment. No research conducted prior to the event regarding participants experience levels, technical skills etc etc., as a consequence kayak pairings were wrong resulting in one kayak having two very fit, young and experienced persons and the other two kayaks having less able crews leading to unbalanced crews who then felt pressurised, stressed which detracted from the experience. The pace set by the lead crew was too fast, the time spent at rest and at stop offs too short and we felt rushed and pressurised into finishing rather than taking time to really enjoy. If the correct research had been done and the pairings thought out the whole experience would have been far, far better. After the event we felt a little cheated. Additionally - collection time was pulled forward by 1 hour - this was stressful given that we were on holiday with teenage boys and seemed pointless given that we finished before two in the afternoon and still had half a day left!!
