This trip departs from Ilulissat, a town in western Greenland and the third-largest town in the country. On this boat tour from Ilulissat, you'll travel to Oqaatsut. Formerly known as Rodebay, Oqaatsut is a small settlement in western Greenland located approximately 15 kilometres (9 miles) north of Ilulissat.

The sightseeing boat tour to Oqaatsut begins at the harbour in Ilulissat, where you'll be greeted on board the comfortable boat by an experienced guide. In your small group of a maximum of 10 participants, the guide will ensure an intimate and personalised experience. After a quick safety and itinerary briefing, the boat excursion to Oqaatsut begins! The captain will start sailing along the icy waters of the rugged Disko Bay. Along the way, you'll have panoramic views of the town's Arctic coastline. The village is home to about 30 residents, who live a traditional lifestyle, hunting and gathering their own food. You'll experience the remote way of life in Greenland and explore the village's quaint houses and small buildings, including a newly built fish factory.

Throughout the tour of Oqaatsut, the guide will share insights about the history and culture of this settlement. It used to be an important hub for traditional hunting, fishing, and whaling. In the 18th and 19th centuries, European whalers, particularly Dutch and Danish crews, frequented Disko Bay and established seasonal stations in places like Oqaatsut. During your visit, you'll enjoy a light local meal, as well as hot tea and coffee. You also have the option of eating in the village's restaurant, Restaurant H8, for an additional fee. Then, the boat will take you back to the starting point in Ilulissat.
