From a spot at the foot of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, this quad bike ride along the black sandy beaches near Vík í Mýrdal is a sensational and exotic getaway in southern Iceland. Riding easy-to-handle quads, you will descend along the rivers flowing from Mýrdalsjökull to the Atlantic Ocean to reach the beach of Sólheimasandur, an impressive stretch of volcanic sand!
From the beach, breathtaking views of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in the background await you, as well as unobstructed views of the small peninsula of Dyrhólaey near Vík. Your quad biking excursion along the beach of Sólheimasandur will then take you to the famous wreck of a Douglas DC-3 plane, whose crash in 1973 will be recounted to you by your guide. It is up to you whether you want a 1 or 2 hours adventure!
