Submerge yourself in the pristine waters of the Italian Alps with a sporty canyoning session in the Chalamy Torrent near Aosta. Located within the Mont Avic Natural Park near Champdepraz, the Chalamy Torrent cuts through narrow granite gorges, creating crystal-clear pools and towering vertical walls. This alpine river offers one of the most dynamic water progressions in the region, where rushing torrents have carved out natural chutes and deep basins over centuries. Designed for active mountain enthusiasts, the route combines technical rope maneuvers with exhilarating water obstacles in an untouched natural reserve.
Led by certified mountain guides, your journey begins at the Champdepraz base before embarking on an aquatic adventure. Outfitted in 5mm double-piece neoprene wetsuits and specialized neoprene boots, you will navigate two distinct canyon sections. The opening stretch features sunny, open pools with natural water slides up to 12 meters long and cliff jumps reaching heights of 10 meters. As the gorge narrows into high rock faces, the technical phase demands complete engagement with independent abseils down sheer drops of up to 30 meters. Every participant takes charge of their own descents using provided harness descenders under guide supervision, while all jumps and slides remain strictly optional.
This sporty tour welcomes physically active participants aged 14 and above who are comfortable in water and accustomed to mountain environments. Prior canyoning experience is recommended, though athletic beginners eager for physical challenges can successfully complete the route. To ensure optimal safety and personal attention, group sizes are kept small. Full technical gear is provided on site, along with dedicated shuttle transfers between the base and the canyon entry point.
Operating daily from June through September, this excursion offers peak water conditions throughout the summer season. Book your sporty canyoning adventure in the Chalamy Torrent now and test your skills on the premier vertical playground of the Aosta Valley!
