Step aboard the icebreaker "Arktis" — a vessel offering breathtaking views of the Arctic landscapes from its cafeteria and comfortable indoor lounges. Thanks to the included shuttle service, you can easily reach the embarkation point from your hotel in Longyearbyen. Once on board, a team of professionals will accompany you on an unforgettable adventure into the heart of the Isfjorden — Norway's second longest fjord.
During this icebreaker cruise in Svalbard, you'll have a unique opportunity to admire the Arctic landscapes and perhaps even encounter its wildlife! Seals, seabirds, and even whales can generally be spotted in the remote reaches of the Isfjorden. To make the excursion even more enriching, naturalist guides will share their extensive knowledge of the Arctic ecosystem, fjord geology, and local history throughout.
If you have basic swimming ability and would like to, an ice floating session is available during the cruise. Kitted out in a dry suit, you'll experience a truly one-of-a-kind meditative moment amidst the white landscapes of Svalbard. After your ice floating session in the Arctic waters, a warming bowl of soup will be waiting for you on board before the return to Longyearbyen — the perfect opportunity to settle in comfortably inside, warm up, and savour a well-earned meal.
This icebreaker cruise in the Isfjorden is accessible to everyone, including families with children, provided participants are at least 140 cm tall to take part in the optional floating activity. All safety and flotation equipment is provided by the team — all you need to bring is warm thermal clothing to make the most of the outdoor decks.
