Course of events
You should plan to spend around 2.5 hours on this activity with 60 to 75 minutes in the water:
- One day to a few hours before the lesson: receive a WhatsApp message or Email telling you the exact meeting point
- On the day and time of the experience: Arrival at the meeting point and introduction to your instructor
- Equipment distribution and wetsuit fitting
- 20 to 30-minute safety briefing and surf theory
- Warm-up on the beach
- Get in the water!

Activity requirements
Please arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before your departure time as indicated in the itinerary.
No previous surfing experience is necessary, but all participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.
The minimum height to participate in this activity is 120 cm (3'9'').
All minors must be accompanied by an adult or have written authorisation from their parent or guardian to participate. The parent or guardian must be nearby and reachable at all times during the lesson.
Special terms
Your instructor will pick the surfing spot based on the day's meteorological and tide conditions. They will send you a WhatsApp message or email to confirm the exact meeting point and time, usually, within 24 hours of booking, but if conditions change, they reserve the right to change the spot for your safety. They will let you know of any changes by message.
The lessons are usually done in English or Portuguese. Spanish and French are possible upon request and based on instructor availability.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.
Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity depend on weather conditions. Due to unforeseen meteorological occurrences, your itinerary might be shorter or take a different path than usual for your safety.

Within 24 hours of your surfing lesson in Ericeira, your expert Activity Surf Center instructor will send you a WhatsApp message or email to confirm the exact meeting spot and time where you'll need to meet them. They will choose the best beach to hold the lesson based on meteorological conditions, tides, and the group's surfing level, to guarantee a safe and fun experience for all. When you arrive at the beach (which is always accessibe by car), your instructor will fit you for a wetsuit and distribute the surf boards, keeeping in mind your surfing level, height, and any other conditions to pick the best one for you.
Once everyone is all geared up, the lesson can start! You'll receive a thorough safety briefing and a surfing theory lecture, so you can learn everything necessary to then hop on the board. After a quick warm-up on the sand, you'll get in the water. You'll spend between 60 and 75 minutes practicing the techniques you learned during the theoretical lesson, always accompanied by your expert instructor, who will give you tips and tricks to succeed at this wonderful sport. Normally, beginners will try to surf on white waves, while more experiences surfers will try green waves. At the end of the lesson, you'll have some personalised feedback from your expert instructor, and after giving back the equipment, you'll be free to continue your day in Portugal.
