Activity description
This is a 3-hour amazing boat tour aboard a catamaran to explore the Ria Formosa Natural Park and visit Deserta and Farol Islands.
Depart from Faro Marina and/or Portas do Mar, sailing slowly through the Ria Formosa waterways to thoroughly appreciate the stunning surroundings. Along the route, you'll encounter native birds like the grey heron, which frequent this region for feeding. As you get closer to the islands and beaches, you'll notice the lighthouse on the island of Culatra, where you'll make your first stop.
The hard labor of the people on the oyster and clam farms can be seen all around. You will also witness the market village of Olho, an important fishing town, as well as one of the most important sea inlets of the Ria Formosa.

The first stop is the island of Farol. Here you can enjoy a stroll through the streets of this small but welcoming community. Passing the lighthouse, continue to the end to admire an extensive beach of fine white sand bathed by warm and calm waters, here you will find the southernmost point of Portugal - the Cape of Santa Maria.
The second stop is the island of Deserta. This island is also known as the island of Barreta. Here you can choose to explore the island's fauna and flora along an easy stroll or simply enjoy the sun and swim in the clear waters of the beach.
