Surf lessons: Madeira Surf Camp is certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation and the instructors are professionally qualified.

Madeira Surf Camp is the ideal school for those of you who want learn how to surf or improve your existing surf skills with dedicated instructors.

You'll be taken out to the best surf spots around the beautiful island of Madeira, giving you a chance to not only experience optimal surfing conditions, but also discover the sumptuous landscapes of the Portuguese island.

The surf school is certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation and the instructors are professionally qualified. They have many years experience teaching all levels, from beginners to experienced surfers. The lessons last for 2 hours, and each instructor has a maximum 4-5 students.

The surf lessons are split into a theoretical session, warming up and practical in the water. During the lesson your instructor will take pictures of you surfing with GoPro camera, and will then send them to you - immortalising your water adventure forever.

Spot
The village of Porto da Cruz is located on the north coast of Madeira Island, between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches in Porto da Cruz are especially suitable for beginner surfers, as they are the only ones with volcanic black sand with surfable waves.

Madeira Surf Camp is surrounded by banana plantations, vineyards, yet it is only 15 km from the International Airport and 30 km from the center of Funchal. The village of Porto da Cruz still preserves its traditions, with a relaxed lifestyle and a very hospitable local culture. The beach and all necessary services are just a few meters from the surf camp.

As they are located in a rural area, there are several outdoor activities that you can do, such as canyoning, trail running, mountain biking, paragliding, fishing, go-karting, among others.

The village has several restaurants where you can try the regional gastronomy, such as fresh fish, seafood and other traditional dishes from Madeiran cuisine, as well as wines and spirits.

On the island of Madeira there are almost no crowds, in fact there are not many local surfers. The north coast has the most consistency and exposure to the North Atlantic ripples and the widest range of waves and to the various levels of surfing.

A small bay, just a two minute walk from the surf camp and surf school. Ideal for learning and surfing lessons, as it is protected from big waves.

Maiata
Is about ten minutes away from the surf camp. It is the biggest sand beach and the most beautiful one in Madeira, it can handle waves up to 2 meters.
