About the activity

Located in northern Portugal near the Spanish border, across the districts of Braga, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real, Peneda-Gerês National Park is a true natural sanctuary. With its mountains, rivers, gorges and canyons, it offers breathtaking scenery and remarkable biodiversity. Deer, wolves and even golden eagles inhabit its rolling hills. Just 1 hour and 40 minutes from Porto, Peneda-Gerês is a must-see destination for nature lovers visiting the city.

This guided tour of Peneda-Gerês National Park from Porto allows you to explore the park for a full day without the need for a car. Accompanied by an experienced guide who knows the region inside out, you enjoy a genuine immersion in this unspoilt natural environment, far from the hustle and bustle of Porto. For added comfort and a more personalised experience, the excursion is limited to small groups of no more than 8 participants.

Your day begins with a 4x4 journey from Porto to the national park. Sit back and relax as your guide drives, sharing insights about the park and the programme for the day while you enjoy the changing landscapes. Upon arrival, you visit a magical spot within the park, such as a waterfall or natural lagoon, where you can swim and unwind after a short 25-minute walk. For lunch, you stop at a local restaurant to sample regional specialities, including the famous vinho verde.

In the afternoon, you continue the guided tour of Peneda-Gerês National Park and explore a traditional village with your guide before heading back into nature for another walk and swimming stop in enchanting surroundings. After this final immersion in the park’s landscapes, it is time to return to the 4x4 and head back to Porto.

It was trully an amzing experience, in a smalll group that makes uou feel like you are not intruding the national park. We trully felt like humble visitors, priviledged to grt a bit of adventure and beautiful landscapes. Discovering the village, its history and way of life was a plus. With Caterina as a such a klowledgeable we felt like the visit had a true added value!

It was just the right mix of hiking, swimming, and learning about the people and culture.

An all day trip to Geres National Park included short hikes and swimming in a waterfall and river (warmer water!). We also visited a small village and had a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, all of it was wonderful.
