Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and get to know several different viewpoints and landmarks, some mostly unknown to tourists, on this wonderful jeep safari from Sintra! Located in southwestern Portugal, only around 30 minutes from Lisbon, Sintra is a small town at the foothills of the Sintra Mountains, and is known most for the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With incredible historical landmarks from as far as the 16th century, beautiful hills, forests, picturesque small villages, and incredible views of the Atlantic, this amazing place is perfect for an exploration safari with an expert by your side.
On the day of your jeep safari from Sintra, you'll have the option of being picked up from the train stations at Sintra, Estoril, or Cascais for free or from Lisbon for an extra 60€. Once you meet your expert Extremo Ambiente instructor for the day, you'll hop on their comfortable 4x4 jeep and learn about the itinerary for the day, as well as a few safety recommendations to keep in mind to avoid any mishaps.
Once everyone is comfortably installed, it's time to go! You'll start the day by riding through the Sintra Mountains' forest trails and make the first two stops at the incredible Santurário da Peninha viewpoint and Cabo da Roca. The first one is a historical, isolated palace built on a rocky cliff, and the second is Europe's westernmost point. Next, it's time for an off-road adventure toward Adraga Beach, with its golden sand set against impressive cliffs, where you'll make a short stop to enjoy the beautiful views. Following that, you'll go to Sintra's historical centre, where you'll have the chance to explore independently.
If you choose the full-day excursion, you'll have lunch there, and also discover the Fojo viewpoint, a hidden gem, unknown to most tourists, and only accessible by 4x4. if you want to, you'll be able to take a 1.5-hour tour of Pena Palace, the iconic red and yellow castle on top of a hill. However, entrance to the palace is not included in the price of the experience, so if you don't want to visit it, you can spend more time in Sintra. You'll finish the tour with unforgettable memories of the day you spent in the wonderful landscapes of western Portugal.
To enjoy fully this jeep safari from Sintra, come prepared with hiking boots or sports shoes, comfortable clothing adapted to the day's weather, a bottle of water, and snacks to keep your energy up. You should also bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, lunch if you don't want to buy it on-site, and anything else you may need (medications, an extra layer, etc.) to make the most of your day in Sintra.
