After a detailed briefing and gear check, you’ll board the boat for a short transfer (5 to 30 minutes) to one of the many sites within the reserve. Expect a varied underwater terrain shaped by the lava flows of the Piton des Neiges: submerged arches, narrow tunnels, expansive coral plateaus, and vertical lava cliffs.

Each exploration dive from L'Étang-Salé is guided by an experienced dive master certified under French and international standards. You will dive in groups of max. 4 per dive master, ensuring safety, precision, and detailed interpretation of the reef environment. With a typical bottom time of around 50 minutes, you will have ample opportunity to spot Indian Ocean marine life, from nudibranchs and reef fish to pelagic visitors near drop-offs.
