In the south-west of Reunion Island, the small seaside resort of L'Étang-Salé is known for its natural forest and its stunning black basalt sand beach. But it is also an ideal spot for snorkelling! With clear water ranging between 23 and 28°C, depending on the season, and good visibility of up to 7 metres, the Reunion Island Marine Nature Reserve offers perfect conditions for getting in the water with fins, mask, and snorkel. The underwater wildlife and flora are equally impressive, with an abundance of coral fish (surgeonfish, trumpetfish, pufferfish, etc.), as well as corals, turtles, and more. Get ready to be amazed by what lies beneath the surface!
To make this experience truly memorable, the team at Plongée Salée invite you to go snorkelling at sunset in L'Étang-Salé. This activity will take you out to sea for 2.5 hours, starting with a boat ride along the coastline, followed by a self-guided snorkelling session (around 40 minutes in the water), and then another leisurely cruise along the coast as the sun goes down. You will have all the time you need to take in the scenery bathed in the warm colours of the late afternoon, cocktail in hand (alcoholic or not) to complete the picture. It is the perfect moment to unwind before your evening, swap stories with your guide about what you spotted underwater, and share unforgettable moments with your loved ones, all within a small group of no more than 10 participants.
Between exploring the exceptional underwater world of the Reunion Island Marine Nature Reserve and taking in the magical spectacle of a sunset over the Indian Ocean, this late-afternoon snorkelling excursion in L'Étang-Salé is not to be missed in the south-west of the island. Whether you are with family (children aged 8 and over who can swim are welcome), as a couple, or with friends, you will come away with memories to treasure!
