Take a guided hike in the Cirque de Mafate and discover a natural area cut off from the rest of the world in the heart of Reunion Island!
The Cirque de Mafate is one of the 3 cirques on Reunion Island, along with the Cilaos and Salazie cirques. It is distinguished from the other cirques by its isolated geographical location. The Cirque de Mafate is only accessible on foot or by helicopter. This little haven of natural beauty is ideal for a hike on Reunion Island! Located to the north-west of the Piton des Neiges, the Cirque de Mafate straddles the territories of the municipalities of Saint-Paul and La Possession, in Reunion Island's National Park.
Before setting off on your hike in the Cirque de Mafate, you will meet your guide at 7 a.m. for a briefing on your hike and the day's conditions. Then it's off to the trails!
Accompanied by your local guide, you will be in safe hands to discover the Cirque de Mafate and its culture. Your hike in Mafate is a 15 km round trip that takes around 6 hours. Intermediate level and accessible from age 8, the guided hike often requires you to walk in the water, but not the whole way. If the 4x4 track is closed, your guide will suggest an alternative hike in the Cirque de Mafate. Your hike in the Cirque de Mafate will allow you to discover the Creole authenticity of the inhabited islets and the history of the brown kings. You will appreciate the peaceful charm of the area and visit the inhabited heart of Reunion Island's National Park. 4x4 transfers are not included in the price. Transport costs €28 per person, to be paid on site on the day of the trek.
