The best time of year for whale watching in Reunion Island is from July to September, when whales come to the warm waters around the island to mate and give birth. Excursions are therefore available to simply watch them from a boat or, as with this one, to try getting into the water nearby so you can also admire them underwater. Equipped with a wetsuit, fins, a mask and a snorkel, all you need to do is follow the instructions of the team of professionals accompanying you to perhaps have the chance to swim with the cetaceans, dolphins and/or whales, depending on their behaviour and sea conditions!
Organised by the Le Dodo Palmée diving centre, this snorkelling tour to swim with cetaceans from Le Port is conducted with the utmost respect for the animals. Indeed, you will only be allowed into the water if all the necessary conditions are met to ensure not only your safety, but also respect for the dolphins and whales you may encounter. You will also be in a small group of no more than 6 participants – the ideal size to avoid disturbing the animals, whilst guaranteeing you an authentic and completely safe experience thanks to the supervision of 2 guides specialising in the marine environment. Throughout the 2.5-hour trip, these guides will educate you about the entire ecosystem of Reunion Island’s waters.
From discovering the marine environment to marvelling at the marine life that inhabits the island’s waters, this snorkelling excursion with whales and dolphins from Le Port will provide you with unforgettable moments. So if you can swim and know how to use fins, don’t miss out on this opportunity – you might just get the chance to swim alongside some of the most impressive marine mammals!
