Activity description

Take a 3.5hrs snowshoe hike to the Motta da Blaunca and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Sils and the surrounding area of St. Moritz!

Snowshoe hiking in St. Moritz is an ideal way to enjoy the scenery of the Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of the Upper Engadine, St. Moritz is a must for winter outdoor activities. Here you can discover the sublime peaks of the canton of Graubünden.

On this hike, you'll be accompanied by your local professional hiking guide: Ruedi Wiesner. This Engadine-born outdoor enthusiast has completed T4 alpine tour leader training courses and obtained the SMT (Swiss Mountain Training) avalanche training certificate. He'll be able to guide and advise you, even if this snowshoe hike to the Motta da Blaunca is your first experience in this sport.

You'll set off with your guide from Plaun da Lej to the hamlets of Grevasalvas and Blaunca. The snowshoe hike up to the Motta da Blaunca is 4.4km long and easy to moderate, with plenty of time for breaks and snacks. When you reach the summit of the Motta da Blaunca, at an altitude of 2088 m, you'll have a breathtaking view of Lake Sils and the Engadine landscape.

Then, the descent will take you past a number of other viewpoints and back to the starting point at Plaun da Lej. The way back is through a beautiful forest of mountain conifers. During your snowshoe hike at Motta da Blaunca, you'll also learn interesting facts about the structure of the snowpack and basic knowledge about avalanche risk.

The guided snowshoe hike in St. Moritz is an excellent opportunity to discover the trails around Lake Sils in winter, so don't hesitate to book this activity!
