Amalfi Coast: What to do when you get there ?

The Amalfi Coast is one of Europe’s most coveted destinations for sun, beach, adventure and nightlife. Not to mention great photos! Located in the province of Salerno, in the region of Campania, the coastal town was historically known as a popular holiday for the British upper-class. But this region has been enjoyed long before that. The Amalfi Coast was also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997.

When the Romans inhabited the Italian coast of Amalfi, they nicknamed it Campania Felix, which translates to Happy countryside. Although the eruption of the Volcano Vesuvius in 79 AD probably wouldn’t be described as a “happy” time, today the Amalfi Coast of. But now Amalfi has again returned to bringing happiness to visitors, with loads of interesting sights to see and fun things to do. Rest assured they are a lot more fun than running from a volcano!

The Villa Cimbrone is a 5-star, luxury hotel situated against the mountainside of the coast, and offers spectacular views of the ocean. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, it’s an amazing piece of architecture to visit. Before Villa Cimbrone was a boutique hotel, it was a bohemian, cliff side retreat for famous creatives such as Salvador Dali and Winston Churchill. The villa keeps a lovely garden lined with native Italian cypress trees, rose gardens, and hand-carved italian marble statues.

As to be expected, Amalfi is lined with beaches to sunbathe on. One of the most recognizable beaches is Positano Spiaggia. If you’re looking for the perfect place for a new Instagram picture, this is it. Set against the backdrop of colorful Medieval and Byzantine styled buildings built into the cliff side, the beach is an idyllic place to swim, lay-out and capture memories with friends and family.

The Amalfi Coast is famous for it’s limoncello drinks as well. After a quick walk up the hillside from the beaches, you can relax at ocean-front restaurants and cool-off with refreshing Limoncello spritzers. When you’ve had enough relaxing, Amalfi has no shortage of activities to dive into. From Skydiving to speed boat adventures, check out the unbelievably exciting adventures available to get your heart pumping in this beautiful town. You can also enjoy the great natural beauty of the Amalfi Coast paragliding as well!
