Discover the Arctic forests and the magical Northern Lights of Gratangen on this enjoyable dog-sledding adventure near Narvik. Welcoming participants ages 4 and up on this family-friendly excursion!

Narvik is a town in Norway, situated on the shores of the Ofotfjord, an inlet of the Norwegian Sea. This tour takes place approximately an hour away from Narvik, in a small town called Gratangen. Gratangen is known for its scenic landscapes, including fjords, mountains, and coastal areas. Like many areas in Northern Norway, it also experiences Arctic conditions with cold winters. This area is a prime location for viewing the amazing Northern Lights!

The adventure begins at the starting point in Gratangen, where you will meet your experienced guide. They will introduce you to the adorable and friendly huskies that live on the dog farm. You will be given a safety briefing and set up the sled. The group is small with a maximum of 8 participants to ensure a personalised experience. Each sled will be pulled by a team of 4-6 energetic dogs into the forest that surrounds the farm. You will travel through the beautiful nature, including woods, rivers, dales and hills, in a landscape that leaves you breathless. The dogs love to run fast, making little noise as they glide over the snowy ground. After dashing through the winter wilderness, you will return to the farm.

After the ride, you will relax in a traditional Sami lavvu and become familiar with the mystical Sami culture. The guide will tell stories from Sápmi, while you enjoy a traditional Sami meal of bidos, a stew that consists of slow-cooked reindeer meat, potatoes, and carrots (vegetarian/vegan options are available upon request). Hot coffee and cakes will also be served as you warm up in the lavvu. Then, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights will appear in the night sky. The light pollution is minimal in this scarcely populated village, so the chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis are high. According to Sami folk beliefs, our forefathers’ souls live in the Northern Lights, and therefore a ceremony is held so that the Northern Lights may reveal themselves. This is a truly authentic experience which will help you to understand Sami tradition.

Discover the winter beauty of the Norwegian forests of Gratangen on this dog-sledding tour, while also participating in traditional Sami ceremonies and witnessing the amazing Northern Lights. Book this unforgettable adventure near Narvik now!

There were just 3 of us and we couldn't have asked for a more exciting or enlightening afternoon. This wasn't just a dog sled experience it was far far more. We absolutely loved getting to meet the dogs after the sled ride and then learning about Sami traditions.

Activité dépaysante, originale, que nous ne serons pas prêt d'oublier. Que ce soit la promenade en chiens de traîneau, les moments passés avec les chiens ou la fin de journée sous la tente, toute l'expérience était unique et incroyable
