About the activity
Embark on a guided e-bike and kayak tour for the ultimate adventure in Kailua, Oahu, that will take you all the way to Moku Nui Island!
Kailua Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu, with its long stretch of soft white sand, swaying palms, and crystal-clear waters, it truly is a Hawaiian paradise! Just across the sparkling bay, the twin Mokulua Islands rise from the sea, including Moku Nui, a bird sanctuary open to visitors.
This hybrid tour combines cycling, paddling, and exploring, giving you the best of both land and sea. Your adventure begins one hour before your scheduled tour at the Active Oahu base, where you’ll check in ready to go in your swimsuit. After picking up your gear, you’ll meet your guide for a full safety and route briefing. You’ll also enjoy a quick hands-on demo to make sure you feel confident on your bike before setting off.
From there, it’s time to hop on your e-bike and ride through Kailua town toward Kailua Beach Park with your guide leading the way. Once at the beach, your kayaking equipment will be set up, and you’ll learn how to safely enter and exit your kayak as well as how to paddle efficiently. Then, the real adventure begins.
You’ll paddle across Kailua Bay toward the Mokulua Islands on a 60–80 minute journey over turquoise waters and protected reefs, with your guide sharing fascinating insights into local marine life and Hawaiian history along the way. For the extra adventurous, there are optional stops at Popoi’a Island or the equally stunning Lanikai Beach for a snorkel in its calm, turquoise waters.
On Moku Nui Island, State Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll have the chance to explore its wild beauty: hike to the natural tide pools, including the famous Queen’s Bath, observe local wildlife such as sea turtles and monk seals, and take in sweeping views of the Pacific. A beachside picnic lunch will be served here, giving you the perfect moment to relax and recharge in this unique setting.
The journey back is just as breathtaking. As you paddle toward Kailua Beach, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Kailua Bay, Lanikai, and the dramatic Koʻolau mountain range framing the horizon.
