Discover the activities to do in Le Morne! During a trip to Mauritius, it is impossible not to visit Le Morne, with its emblematic mountain and its breathtakingly beautiful lagoon!

In the south-west of Mauritius, Le Morne is famous for its seaside mountain, the Morne Brabant culminating at 555 meters of altitude. Its ascent is one of the island's must-do hikes, offering incredible panoramas of the Morne's surroundings, including its large lagoon on one side and the Black River Gorges National Park on the other. But it is also impressive to observe the Morne Brabant from the beach of Le Morne to realize its height and take a picture of it!

Le Morne also has one of the largest lagoons in Mauritius, with its southern part known as the "kite lagoon". It is indeed the best spot on the island for kitesurfing, with perfect wind conditions and a very safe lagoon, ideal if you want to discover this water sport. But if you are not particularly interested in this activity and want to discover the lagoon in a different way, a panoramic flight in a seaplane should please you: it will also allow you to admire the incredible "Underwater waterfall", an illusion of underwater waterfall unmissable in Mauritius!

The northern part of the lagoon, where the Ile aux Bénitiers and the Rocher Diamant are located, as well as the longest part of the Morne beach, is ideal for snorkeling in calm and warm waters. Numerous boat excursions are offered to go to the Ile aux Bénitiers for half a day, which has a beautiful white sand beach facing the famous Diamond Rock where it is pleasant to rest. And to change the lagoon, direction Chamarel and its famous land of 7 colors which are a landscape not to be missed on Mauritius! After the visit during which you will surely meet turtles, you will have the possibility to hike in the Ebony forest, as well as on the Piton Canot with a 360° view waiting for you at the top. And if you have children with you, don't hesitate to go to the Lavilleon adventure park: zip line, via ferrata and horseback riding will allow you to have a good time with your family!

To the east of Le Morne you will also find another lagoon, smaller, at Bel Ombre. But this village is especially worth a visit for its UNESCO biosphere reserve where it is possible to make beautiful hikes and 4x4 excursions. If you want to know more about the endemic fauna and flora of Mauritius, Bel Ombre is a stop not to be missed if you are in Le Morne! You can visit the World Seashells museum, about shells, but also enjoy quad biking and buggy rides in the surroundings. Then, on the way back to Le Morne, stop at the Maconde Rock and its bend which are among the things to see in Mauritius!
