Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Do not miss the opportunity to meet whales in their natural environment during your stay in Mauritius, off Flic en Flac!
The crew of Dolswim will meet you at Grande Rivière Noire, in the southwest of Mauritius, to go whale watching. On board the boat, the skippers will give you a briefing about this superb half-day activity: the types of whales you will meet and their habits, the rules to respect for their well-being, as well as the safety measures on the boat.
You will sail for about 3 hours, towards the open sea in the west of Mauritius, to look for the whales that inhabit this part of the Indian Ocean. Depending on the season, you will be able to observe two types of whales: humpback whales, present during the Mauritian winter (July to September/October), and sperm whales, living almost all year round on the west coast of Mauritius. The latter live in groups of 10 to 20 individuals, promising you an extraordinary experience if you manage to meet them!
Whale watching is a must-do during a stay in Mauritius, so if you are staying around Flic en Flac, don't hesitate to join Dolswim in Grande Rivière Noire to see the whales of the Indian Ocean!
It is important to listen to the instructions of the skippers or crew members at all times.
Whale watching is not recommended for children under 7 years old. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The excursion is not recommended for pregnant women.
Special terms
Dolswim reserves the right to cancel the trip in case of bad weather, to avoid any risk to your safety.
