Follow the meltwater of the mighty Alps from source to stream on this adventure canyoning excursion that travels along the Boggera River in the Valle di Cresciano, in Ticino.
Hidden in the Swiss mountains in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, the Ticino, lies one of Europe's most exciting and accessible canyons - Boggera. Nestled in a region rich in palm-lined lakes and sharp Alpine peaks, the Valle di Cresciano is home to a lively channel of freshwater that has carved the landscape into dramatic sinkholes, smooth channels and stunning waterfalls that have become a mecca for alpine adventurers. Now's you're chance to experience the thrill of this nature trail with beginner and intermediate excursions to Boggera canyon.
Location
Situated on the southern side of the Alps, Ticino is in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland more akin to the Meditteranean. Famous for its large glacial lakes, Maggiore is the second-largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland. Boggera canyon is open and sunny - lying between Bellinzona and Biasca.The Boggera river has carved out deep clear pools in this blinding white granite rock so this natural playground contains jumps, slides and roped descents suitable for every level.
Activity
Offering two excursions to Boggera canyon for adventurous beginners (approx. 4 hrs) and daring intermediates (approx. 5.5 hrs), groups meet at the canyoning base in Osogna-Cresciano where you will kit up and have a short safety briefing. Following your instructor into the woodland on a 30/45-minute nature hike, groups will descend through the canyon system using simple rope technique to rappel down waterfalls, tombstone off cliffs into deep pools, swim through whitewater channels, wade through pools and slide down natural toboggans! Once you have reached the end of the course, return to base and enjoy some complimentary refreshments.
Conditions
Operating throughout the summer season, Boggera Canyon is suitable for confident swimmers - with sections of the canyon suitable for more experienced participants.
