Practical information
Schützensteig via ferrata route on the Jenner:
- family route from 1 to 1.5 hours (330 metre-long via ferrata),
- beginner level A/B (K1/K2),
- height difference of 150 metres.
Please allow between 3 and 4 hours for the whole experience.
- Meeting with the guide at the Hinterbrand parking lot (free parking), 15 minutes before the start of the activity
- Distribution of via ferrata material and equipment, with a briefing on the activity
- Cable car ride up (ticket not included)
- Approx. 20-minute approach walk to the via ferrata
- Safety briefing with demonstration
- Departure for a 1 to 1.5-hour via ferrata course, with the guide to help you if necessary to overcome obstacles (climbing passages and a suspension bridge)
- Return walk back to the cable car to return to the parking lot
- Return of equipment and end of the activity
Being in good physical condition and not being afraid of heights is required to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the activity.
A minimum of 4 participants is required to run this activity.
This activity is not accessible to pregnant or disabled people.

At an altitude of 1,874 metres, Jenner is one of the peaks in the Berchtesgaden Alps and a must-see in Schönau am Königssee. It is popular for the superb views it offers of the surrounding area from its cable car-accessible summit, as well as for its hiking trails, which are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. But did you know that you can also go via ferrata at Jenner, with the whole family on a course suitable for those aged 8 and above?
The Schützensteig via ferrata is a 330-metre-long, easy route with typical climbing obstacles and a suspension bridge. It takes between 1 and 1.5 hours to complete the course, with a professional instructor on hand to guide you through the obstacles. All the equipment you need for the activity will also be provided (helmet, harness, karabiners, etc.), so you can discover this via ferrata at Jenner without having to prepare anything apart from sports shoes and clothes!
