Course of events
You should plan to spend around 7 to 9 hours on this activity:

- Around lunchtime, reach the summit
- After a break, spend the afternoon descending the mountain

Activity requirements
This is a high-level activity, and being in good physical condition is required to take part in it. You should not suffer from heart problems, asthma, or vertigo if you want to participate.
Experience in trails with an accentuated slope is highly recommended.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
You cannot participate in this activity if you have gone diving less than 24 hours before it starts.
The use of hiking or mountaineering boots is essential.
Special terms
The permits to Mount Pico get sold out very fast in the high season (end of May to mid September). An early booking is advised to better guarantee availability from the provider.
Your instructor offers a transfer service from Vila da Madalena (Tripix Store), at an additional fee and subject to availability. Please get in touch with your instructor once your reservation is confirmed to inquire about this service.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.
Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity are weather-dependent.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
In case you have a drone, you must register at the ANAC website (Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority) and inform your instructor that you'll be bringing it.
There will be a fee of 10€/each for damaged hiking poles.

This full-day climbing excursion up Mount Pico, in the Azores, will start between 6 and 6:30 am. You'll need to meet your certified Mount Pico guide at Casa da Montanha (Mountain House) and get fully equipped for the climb with the hiking poles. When you book the activity, you will receive a PDF document from your instructor listing the equipment requirements for the activity, so be sure to come prepared with them. On-site, before the start of the experience, you'll receive a thorough safety and activity briefing, and once everyone is ready, it will be time to go!
Your instructor will direct and accompany you all the way as you ascend through the volcanic rock and rugged terrain path to the summit of Mount Pico. By midday, you should reach this wonderful spot, almost 2.500 metres above sea level, and enjoy the gorgeous views that stretch beyond the island and over the Atlantic, an excellent reward for the hard work of the morning.
You will need to bring your own food and water in your backpack, and you'll get some time to take in the breathtaking views as you regain your strength for the descent, which will be as challenging as the ascent. The whole experience should last between 7 and 9 hours, but you should set aside the whole day to be able to fully enjoy it and not have to rush through it.
