- You arrive at the Margaridas Apiary, located in the peaceful countryside of São Miguel island in the Azores.
- You are welcomed by your guide, a local biologist, and receive a short introduction to bee biology, safety guidelines, and the unique biodiversity of this Azorean wildlife experience
- You suit up with professional beekeeping gear, including a full suit, gloves, and ankle protection
- You walk through the rewilded land, surrounded by native and melliferous plants, and reach the apiary where the bee hives are located
- At the hives, you observe the fascinating world of bees in action and learn how the colony is structured, how the bees communicate, and what roles they play throughout their lives
- With expert guidance, you identify worker bees, drones, and if lucky, spot the queen bee inside the hive
- If at any point you feel uncomfortable, you're free to step back to a safe distance or return to the briefing area
