A 5-hour guided stargazing experience at Lake Minnewanka.
- Use of a computerised/digital telescope and binoculars
- Small group of 13 participants maximum
- Includes pick-up at your hotel in Banff or Canmore (see list of hotels in ‘special terms’)
Course of events
Please allow up to 5 hours for the entire experience.
- Minibus pick-up from your hotel in Canmore or Banff (please arrive in the lobby 10 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time).
- Journey to a local lookout to admire the nighttime view of Banff and take pictures from an elevated vantage point while your guide shares stories of Banff’s history (approx. 15 min)
- Enjoy a short, scenic drive to Lake Minnewanka (about a 20-minute drive) where the guide will share anecdotes about wildlife and indigenous stories.
- Stop at the Lake Minnewanka where you will have to walk 5-7 min to reach the lakeside and enjoy the views (approx. 45 min).
- Drive deeper into the park to arrive at a viewpoint on the shores of Two Jack Lake (5 min).
- Settle into premium heated chairs, observing the sky using telescopes, binoculars, and iPads equipped with constellation-identification apps (approx. 2 hours).
- Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate or cup of tea to warm up.
- Walk back to the minibus.
- Return to your hotel and end of the activity.
Activity requirements
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
All adults must sign a waiver prior to the tour. A waiver must also be completed by the parent or guardian of any child under the age of 18.
