Activity description

Let yourself be tempted by rafting down the Athabasca Falls and discover some truly breathtaking scenery! Under the watchful eye of your expert guides, you will venture into the heart of nature, in an idyllic setting!

When you arrive at the meeting point, you'll meet your qualified instructors, who will accompany you on this rafting trip on the Athabasca from Jasper. You'll sign a waiver before taking a bus ride along Alberta's spectacular Icefields Parkway. You will meet the guides, who will explain how the activity works and introduce you to the rafting equipment you will need. The rafts will be allocated to you and the guides will answer any questions you may have!

Once the trip is over, you'll put on the rafting equipment and listen carefully to the safety instructions for this activity in the Canadian Rockies. Depending on the level of the trip chosen, you can help carry the rafts to the river if you wish, and then begin your supervised rafting descent to Athabasca Falls:

Mile 5 Course - 1-hour rafting on the Athabasca through Class I and then Class II rapids, perfect for discovering rafting with family and friends in the magnificent setting of the Canadian Rockies!

Athabasca Falls / Canyon route - 1 hour 15 minutes of rafting on a section of the river starting at the foot of the Athabasca Falls, in a canyon with class II rapids which then opens out onto the river valley and its exceptional scenery: ideal for participants looking for thrills on their first descent!

Paddle and admire the magnificent scenery all around you as you raft down the Athabasca Falls from Jasper!

Your driver will be waiting for you at a small rest area after the confluence of the Whirlpool River. You'll take off your loaned equipment and enjoy the bus ride back to Jasper, where you can admire the photos taken during the rafting trip down the Athabasca. You'll be able to collect these photos from the driver if you wish! On your return to Jasper, you'll say hello to your instructors and bring this rafting activity at Athabasca Falls to a close.

Rafting down the Mile 5 section of the glacier-fed Athabasca River: this section of the river is an excellent 1-hour introduction to rafting, with Class II rapids and superb mountain views

Course of events

- Arrive at the starting point and meet the guides

- Explanation of the activity, loan of equipment

- 15-minute bus transfer to Athabasca Mile 5

- Safety briefing and 1-hour rafting descent

- Passage through sections of Class I water for around 10 minutes, followed by turbulent sections of Class II rapids, with more impressive waves and splashes

- 20-minute bus transfer back to Jasper and end of the activity

Activity requirements

To take part in this activity, participants must be comfortable in the water. Knowing how to swim is not compulsory, but all participants will get wet.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the activity.

Waivers must be signed to participate and can be done digitally on arrival.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Special terms

You can leave your personal belongings on the bus, or take them with you in a backpack.

If you wish, you can buy the photos (5 to 8 shots) of your activity online via PicThrive at the end of your activity for an extra $40 ($20 for just 2 photos): the photos are taken at the start of the activity and during one of the biggest splashes on the course, and will be shown to you on your IPad at the end of the experience.
