Practical information
Discover the wonderful coastline of Crete, an exploration of rocky shoreline, small churches, old mining pylons, small inlets, and visit a hidden cave while snorkeling!
Program
We meet in Kissamos and take a short car journey to our swimming start point.
Starting from a small, pebbly beach with a natural rockpool, mainly visited by locals, we swim along the rocky shoreline, accompanied by schools of fish and spotting sponges and seagrass clumps on the seafloor below. Ducking through a low arch takes us into a spooky sea cave, where we can spot birds and bats roosting inside, as well as admire the strange lighting effects from the sun through the arch. Heading back into the sun we continue along the coast to two towering WW2 era mining pylons, which now act as an artificial reef on the steep coast, before returning to the beach.
