SSI Open Water Diver Certification Course in Omiš, Dalmatia

Please allow 3-5 days on site for the entire experience.

• Arrive at Omis harbor or directly at the diving center.
• If you arrive at Omis harbor, the team will drive you to the diving center for free (5 minutes).
• Meet your certified instructor and the Open Water team.
• Receive an introduction to the course structure and schedule.
• Discuss and organise the timetable for your upcoming training sessions.
• Receive your personal username and password to access the digital training materials, which you can complete at your own pace throughout the course.
• Spend the first 2 days training at the Blue Door, with four supervised training dives included (1 hour underwater). Each in-water session lasts approximately 3 hours.
• Take part in confined water sessions to learn how to assemble your scuba equipment, clear your mask and practise essential diving techniques.
• Complete a series of underwater skill exercises designed to build confidence, comfort and safe diving habits.
• On the final day, head to one of the nearby dive sites to complete 2 open water dives and progressively reach depths of up to 18 metres.
• Finish the course with a debriefing session, receive your underwater photos and videos, and earn your Open Water Diver certification.
• Take the shuttle back to Omis harbor or leave the diving center with your own car.

When you get your certification you'll be able to:

• Obtain air refills
• Rent diving equipment
• Dive alone with a partner to a maximum depth of 18 metres/60 feet
• Book boat dives
• Take additional courses, such as underwater photography and videography

No previous diving experience is required for this course but all participants must know how to swim and float unassisted in the ocean and be in good physical health.

In addition, participants must complete a medical statement as well as speak and understand English (for safety reasons).

Please note that this certification can be completed over 3-5 days, providing that participants do the mandatory 6 dives. You can organize the scheduling of this course with the staff at the Open Water Diving Center.

For this activity, you must not have any of the following contraindications: respiratory problems (exertional asthma), heart problems, ENT problems, lung problems, diabetes or epilepsy. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to contact us or ask for medical advice.

Participants who wear glasses can bring their own mask adapted to their eyesight. Otherwise, please ask your optician if you wish to wear contact lenses during the activity.

Your instructor will contact you 1-2 days before the dive, by whatsapp or phone, to arrange meeting time and location.

The team will send you the pictures and videos on the spot, either by email, whatsapp or Airdrop.
