Perfect for beginners aged 8 and over, the Fortica via ferrata is just a short walk from Omiš town centre. It’s a great way to explore the area while enjoying the outdoors, with a mix of hiking and climbing on a secured route equipped with cables, ladders and metal bridges.

This route leads to the Fortica Fortress, a must-see historical landmark in Omiš. Built in the 15th century by locals to protect the town from Ottoman and pirate attacks, this medieval fortress offers a unique blend of adventure and history.

After arriving at the meeting point, you’ll gear up on site and have a safe place to store your personal belongings. Then the adventure begins! The final part of the climb runs just above the old town, offering breathtaking views over the islands and the surrounding mountains.

At the top, you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Cetina River, the sea and the town of Omiš. While the view from the fortress is stunning, the via ferrata route offers exclusive vantage points that are only accessible during the climb!

You can choose between two ways to experience the Fortica via ferrata. If you decide to explore the route with a professional guide, the entry to the fortress will be included in your activity and you'll be able to take home photos of the adventure. You can also decide to rent the via ferrata gear and explore at your own pace. Entry to the fortress is not included but can be purchased on-site if you decide to visit.

The route is 1.2 km long with 330 m of elevation gain. The second half is more exposed, but not steep or technically difficult. There are no vertical or overhanging sections, and the entire route is equipped with steel cables. Expect rocky terrain on the way up, followed by a forest path and gravel trail on the way down.
