Eco Snorkelling Adventure from Paphos, Cyprus

Paphos is a city located on the southwestern coast of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean. Paphos is known for its natural beauty, with stunning beaches, deep-blue waters and a rich biodiversity. This is the ideal location for a snorkelling excursion! 

The activity starts at the dive centre in Paphos, where you will meet the PADI-certified instructor. You will receive the snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel, and fins), and the guide will help you to adjust your mask and snorkel to fit you perfectly. Then, you will receive a briefing that will include information about basic snorkelling techniques and Mediterranean marine life.

You'll travel to the Roman Wall dive site, located just 100m from the dive centre. The instructor will teach you how to effectively clear a snorkel and how to duck down below the surface. Then, the snorkelling adventure begins! This unique dive site is home to a submerged wall which was once the foundation for the Roman harbour. Paphos was a shipping area for cargo boats during the Roman era, so it is common to find broken amphorae on the seabed and encrusted into the wall.

As you snorkel, you will try to spot and identify different marine life, with the help of the guide. Slipper lobsters, shrimp and octopuses like to hide on the wall. You'll snorkel in the shallow end, which is home to schools of juvenile fish which are protected from the changing sea conditions and also bottom feeders such as wrasse and mullet fish. You'll use a small pencil to note down marine life that you find, contributing to a national project aimed at monitoring shallow reefs and aquatic life in Cyprus! At the end of your adventure, you'll return to the dive centre in Paphos.
