About the activity

Join an exciting RIB sightseeing tour along the coast of Finland’s capital city, Helsinki. Welcoming adventurers from ages 8 and up!

Helsinki is Finland’s largest and capital city, located along the shore of the Gulf of Finland. This city is the country’s major political, educational, and economic centre. It is home to many famous landmarks and unique architecture. Helsinki also has a lot of natural beauty, located beside an archipelago with rocky shores, dense forests, and picturesque coastal landscapes.

For this sightseeing tour, you’ll start at the jetty in Helsinki, where you will meet the experienced guide and board the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). After a quick safety briefing and gearing up with your life vest, goggles and warm clothing, the skipper will set sail on the Baltic Sea! The boat is designed for high speeds, so you can cover more distance safely. You’ll pass by the new district of Hernesaari, home to the famous public sauna, Löyly. As you sail, the guide will share facts and insights about the city’s history.

The first historic monument on the tour is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Suomenlinna, one of the most popular sights in Finland! Suomenlinna is a historic sea fortress located on a group of islands just off the coast of Helsinki. It consists of a network of defensive walls, bastions, barracks, tunnels, and other military structures spread across six interconnected islands. From the boat, you’ll have a view of the Suomenlinna shipyard, the Vesikko submarine, and the ramparts of Kustaanmiekka and Vallisaari.

The next point of interest is Katajanokka, a historic neighbourhood located on a nearby island. You’ll admire the traditional sailing ships lining the promenade at Pohjoisranta, and the inviting terraces of the restaurants beneath Uspenski Cathedral. Continuing on the tour, you’ll pass the rocky island of Katajanokanluoto. Then, you’ll be treated to a magnificent view of Helsinki’s city skyline from the water. You’ll see Uspenski Cathedral, Allas Sea Pool and the Market Square.

On the return journey, you’ll spot some more of Helsinki’s landmarks, including the traditional market hall, the elegant pavilion of Finland’s oldest sailing club, and the historic Kaivopuisto Park. Then, you’ll pass several of the archipelago’s beautiful islands; Harakka, Uunisaari, Liuskasaari, and Sirpalesaari. They are all known for their natural beauty and serene atmosphere. It is often said that some of the most spectacular views of Helsinki are seen from the sea! The tour will end back at the starting point in the city.

For an informative and enjoyable tour of some of the most well-known sights in Helsinki, don’t miss this thrilling RIB excursion!
