Pyhä is situated in the northern part of Finland. It is part of the larger Lapland region, known for its Arctic landscapes and winter activities. The farm is surrounded by white snow and a peaceful forest, the perfect destination for outdoor adventures! This reindeer safari is one of the most traditional activities in Finnish Lapland.
The excursion begins at the traditional farm in Pyhä-Luosto. You will meet your guide and be given a tour of the farm. The guide will introduce you to the beautiful reindeer, local to the region, and you will have the opportunity to interact with them up close, as well as feed them. You will be given a safety briefing and be set up in a sturdy and comfortable sled. Then, the reindeer sledding safari will begin!
The reindeer will pull you in the sled into the snowy wilderness surrounding the farm. The sleigh ride will last approximately one hour, during which time you will enjoy the wintery wilderness and peaceful forest. Midway through, you will stop for a break at a Lavvu, a traditional tent used by the Sami people native to the Nordic region. Hot drinks, or a warming lunch of soup, bread and traditional kampanisu (Finnish biscuits), will be served. The guide will share stories about local culture, the history of reindeer herding and life in the region. After the break, you will return to the farm and head home with life-long memories!
