Ride a heated vehicle through the remote and wild landscapes of Finnish Lapland to find the dancing lights in the sky on this Northern Lights snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride from Rovaniemi! The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a natural phenomenon that occurs through the interaction between the Earth's atmosphere and the sun's particles. Known as the "official" hometown of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi is a wonderful modern city, and the capital of the Finnish Lapland region. Located inside the Arctic circle, and surrounded by breathtaking and wild Arctic landscapes, this place is perfect to go looking for the Northern Lights in remote, low-light pollution Arctic forests, valleys, and marshes.
On the day of your Northern Lights snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride from Rovaniemi, you'll have the opportunity to be picked up by your instructor within a 10-kilometre radius of Rovaniemi's city centre. You can also arrive by yourself at the StayLapland headquarters. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will distribute the thermal overalls, snow boots, beanies, mittens and other winter apparel necessary to stay safe during the experience. You'll then be transported to the StayLapland basecamp at Kuoksa Wilderness Park.
Next, it's time for the adventure to begin! You'll hop on a comfortable, heated sleigh and snuggle up as your instructor drives the snowmobile in front. You'll wade through the snow and head toward a remote location in Kuoksa Wilderness Park. You'll make a stop at a teepee, where your instructor will build a fire and distribute delicious snacks and warm berry juice, which you'll get to enjoy as they tell you all they can about the Northern Lights and you search for them in the sky. Now, it is not always possible to observe the aurora, since it is a natural phenomenon and can't be controlled, but you'll be able to enjoy the peaceful environment of Finnish Lapland and a fun sleigh ride even if they don't appear.
Keep in mind that the temperatures in the Arctic can go from 5 to -30 degrees Celsius, so bringing very small children on this activity might not be the best idea. You should also come prepared with thermal or wool underlayers, and extra warm layers to wear under the suit, as well as anything else you may need (medication, extra snacks, sunglasses, etc.) to spend a safe and fun 4 hours on this Northern Lights snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride from Rovaniemi!
Don't miss out on a unique and very fun experience in the beautiful landscapes of Finnish Lapland. Book your Northern Lights snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride from Rovaniemi today!
