Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Join an evening snowmobile excursion into the Lappish Wild in search of the Northern Lights from Rovaniemi. Welcoming participants from ages 4 and up on this family-friendly adventure!
Rovaniemi is the largest city of Finnish Lapland, located in the north of the country close to the Arctic Circle. During the winter months, the diverse landscapes are covered in snow and ice, creating a stunning atmosphere. Snowmobiling is the perfect way to uncover its untouched nature. Rovaniemi is also one of the best places for witnessing the awe-inspiring Northern Lights!
The adventure begins by meeting your guide at the starting point in Rovaniemi (pick-up is available from listed locations upon booking). You will start with a safety briefing and snowmobiling driving lesson. Beginners are welcome on this inclusive tour! Each snowmobile will be driven in pairs, one person driving and one passenger, with the opportunity to switch during the tour. Children will sit in a comfortable sled under warm blankets.
Guided into the darkness, you will chase the Northern Lights as you drive deeper and deeper into the lush Lappish forest. With the moonlight flickering through the trees, casting shadows during your adventure, you will be on a mission to find the mesmerising Aurora Borealis. In this remote location away from light pollution, the chances of witnessing the natural phenomenon are much higher.
Midway through the excursion, you will take a break around a roaring campfire. Hot juice and cookies will be served as you watch the dancing colours in the night sky. The guide will share stories about the Northern Lights and life in this remote Arctic location. After you have warmed up, you will snowmobile back to the starting point and return to your pick-up location in Rovaniemi.
The snowmobile trail will take you to the most beautiful places in the Rovaniemi wilderness while you discover the magical Northern Lights!
For this activity, each snowmobile is shared between two, with one driver and one passenger and the opportunity to switch.
For safety reasons, children under 14 years old will sit in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile. It is recommended that an adult also sits in the sled with smaller children.
