Enjoy a land sailing session, also called sand yachting or land yachting, on the famous Omaha Beach - one of the five landing areas of the Normandy Invasion of World War II!
The club center Eolia Normandie offers you an introduction to land sailing at Omaha Beach from Colleville-sur-Mer.
Programme: After a technical and safety briefing, you'll practice on evolving courses. The activity lasts 2 hours in total and is available to children from 8 years old... It is ideal for beginners!
You will be supervised by a qualified instructor throughout the session. He will teach you to rig your land sail and pilot it on a marked course or a hike (according to the weather conditions). At low tide, you will experience great sensations by going as fast as the wind!
Spot: Omaha Beach is one of the 5 landing beaches of the Normandy Invasion during WW2. It is sadly known because it's where the Allies lost most of their troops. The beach - originally called Golden Sands - is 5.9 km long and is 12 km east of Utah Beach. It's located in the towns of Vierville-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, and villages of Colleville-sur-Mer and Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes.
With family, friends, or even alone, discover sand yachting on Omaha Beach and become a pilot for a few hours!
