Taking part in a packrafting trip in the Grand Canyon du Verdon promises a raw and authentic exploration, a far cry from traditional tourist routes. On this route, it is very common to spot griffon vultures circling above the canyon cliffs, whilst the luckiest visitors may catch a glimpse of chamois on the rocky heights. This unspoilt and hard-to-reach setting provides the backdrop for an exclusive day out, guided by an eco-conscious specialist in this exceptional area.
Your adventure begins with a seamless transition from land to water, combining a hike with dynamic paddling. Equipped with premium technical gear, including a Hultra packraft renowned for its excellent stability in white water and a 3–5 mm Seland wetsuit suited to the temperature, you’ll learn to read the currents. The descent alternates between calm, contemplative stretches and more challenging Class II rapids. The highlight of the day is the lunch break on a secret, secluded beach at the bottom of the gorges—a moment suspended in time, accessible only via these lightweight, manoeuvrable craft.
This 7-hour guided trip requires a good level of fitness and is suitable for those who are comfortable with both hiking and river navigation. Everyone pitches in to carry the rucksacks, which weigh around 10 kg and contain the inflatable equipment. To ensure a personalised approach and high-quality, safe supervision, Terrakayak deliberately limits group sizes to a maximum of 8 participants per state-qualified instructor. This small-group format allows us to tailor the route precisely to the day’s water flow and the participants’ ability levels, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.
This unique micro-adventure is available from May to September, depending on the river’s flow and water releases. Book your packrafting trip in the Grand Canyon du Verdon now and get ready to explore the most hidden corners of this legendary site, setting off from the Samson car park!
