This excursion is perfect for small groups of friends and family, as you are guaranteed a personal experience. After the guide goes through a brief itinerary for the day, you’ll set off driving from Athens.

The tour begins by driving through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes. The guide will share fascinating insights along the way, Thebes holds a special place in Greek mythology, known as the birthplace of the hero Hercules and the tragic king Oedipus. You’ll have a short stop at Levadia, another historical city located in central Greece. Then, you’ll continue driving to Delphi.

Delphi is an iconic archaeological site located on the southwestern slope of Mount Parnassus. Delphi was once considered the centre of the world and was revered as the seat of the Greek god Apollo. The site was also home to the Oracle of Delphi, a priestess who delivered cryptic messages and prophecies. Delphi contains numerous ancient ruins, including temples, treasuries, theatres, stadiums, and sanctuaries. With the guide, you’ll discover famous sites such as the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea and the Temple of Apollo.

After exploring the archaeological site, you’ll visit the Delphi museum (own expense), with spectacular exhibits including the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos, the famous bronze Charioteer, and many other artefacts dating back to the Roman period. After finishing the tour, you’ll drive to the modern village of Delphi where you can enjoy an optional lunch at one of the restaurants. On the way back to Athens, you’ll have one last stop at the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the south slopes of Parnassus for a cup of coffee and some photos.
