Join a full-day minivan tour from Athens to three historical sites in the Peloponnese region of Greece - Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafplio. Welcoming adventurers of all ages on this family-friendly trip!

This tour begins from Athens, the largest and capital city of Greece. The Peloponnese is a large peninsula located in southern Greece, situated southwest of Athens, across the Corinthian Gulf. It is a region rich in history, culture, and natural beauty, with diverse landscapes ranging from rugged mountains to fertile valleys and pristine coastlines. On this full-day trip, you’ll visit some of the ancient sites located in Peloponnese.

The adventure begins with pick-up from your accommodation in central Athens (please specify your location upon booking). You’ll be greeted by the experienced guide and board the comfortable air-conditioned minivan. This tour is designed for small groups, with a maximum of 15 participants, to ensure a personalised experience. Once everyone is on board, the guide will begin driving from Athens.

You’ll travel for approximately one hour, passing through the famous Corinth Canal which connects the Saronic to the Corinthian Gulf and divides mainland Greece from the Peloponnese. There will be a short stop at Corinth Canal along the way to enjoy the scenic views. Then, you’ll drive to the region of Argolis, the land of Homer’s Golden Mycena. At the top of a hill, you’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site, Mycenae, home of the mythical king Agamemnon. The guide will take you on a walking tour of the site, passing the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Treasury of Atreus and the Royal Tombs of Agamemnon and his wife Clytemnestra.

The next stop on the tour is Nafplio, a charming coastal town. It served as the first capital of the newly independent Greek state after the Greek War of Independence. The picturesque town is surrounded by beautiful beaches and coves along the Argolic Gulf. You’ll enjoy an optional traditional Greek lunch in one of the restaurants, before having some free time to explore the town. Walk the narrow streets and admire the classical buildings dating back to the 16th - 17th century.

The next stop on the tour is Epidaurus, another archaeological site in the Peloponnese region. Epidaurus is most famous for its breathtaking ancient theatre. Built in the 4th century BC, the theatre could seat up to 14,000 spectators and was used for theatrical performances, musical contests, and religious ceremonies. The theatre is still in use today and hosts performances every year. The day trip will end with a scenic return journey along the Peloponnese peninsula, dropping you back to your accommodation in Athens.

This fascinating full-day trip is the perfect way to learn about Greece’s history and culture, exploring three famous sites in the Peloponnese region from Athens.
