Athens is the largest and capital city of Greece, known for its modern city and its ancient landmarks. Athens also serves as a gateway to the many other historical and cultural sites in Greece. On this trip from Athens, you’ll visit the beautiful Corinth Canal, the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth and the famous Temple of Apollo.

The half-day trip begins with pick-up from your accommodation or airport/cruise ship terminal in Athens (please specify your location upon booking). An experienced guide will pick you up in a comfortable and air-conditioned minivan. This is a private tour, suitable for participants of all ages, the perfect day trip for those visiting Athens for a few hours. Once you have boarded the vehicle, the guide will begin driving from Athens along the coastal road heading west. You’ll enjoy the scenic panoramic views of the Athenian coastline.

The first stop will be at the Corinth Canal, a narrow waterway that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea, separating the Peloponnese peninsula from mainland Greece. You’ll stop for photos and a morning coffee break. Witness the impressive engineering feat and admire the scenic views of the surrounding landscape from the bridges that span the canal. After, you’ll drive to Ancient Corinth, which was a major city-state in ancient Greece. The city was strategically positioned between the Aegean Sea and the Ionian Sea, making it a hub for wealth and trade.

Today, Ancient Corinth is an archaeological site, where you get a glimpse into the city's rich history and cultural heritage. You’ll have some free time to visit the famous Temple of Apollo, dedicated to the Greek god of music, prophecy, and healing, and the ancient Agora. Explore the ruins of temples, baths, theatres, and other public buildings around the site.  There is also a museum, the place where St Paul preached and wrote his letters addressed to the Corinthians which are now part of the New Testament.

After visiting the museum, you’ll enjoy a relaxing stroll in the pedestrian street part of the old town. Then, the tour continues by driving to Loutraki, a coastal town known for its stunning beaches and hot springs. You’ll have some free time here to swim in the crystal clear waters and relax on the beach. You can also enjoy an optional lunch at a local restaurant, where you will have magnificent views of the Corinthian Gulf. Finally, the guide will drive you back to your pick-up point in Athens.
