Activity description
Explore the northern parts of Karpathos island and prove your hiking skills during this challenging hike, which you will start in the rural areas of Aposkinou. While continuing your way along Kaka Skalia and the Alifti Riza, make way for mind-blowing views of Mesochori and Olympos. An impressive church known as the Monastira built on top of an older temple shows you some culture in the midst of beautiful nature. Further, you will follow the path through the peaceful rural areas of Pie and Masias, to name but a few. You will get to hear and see history along this hike with old beehives (thyri), wells, water tanks, ovens, and last but not least the Mantinades. Carved into the mountains you will discover folk songs, known as Mantinades in Greek, from 1993.

Activity requirements
This hike is considered difficult and for someone in excellent hiking condition that can handle a significant increase in ascends and descends. Paths are uneven and have many steep sections. The hike takes about 5 hours at a relaxed pace with little breaks along the way.
