Guadeloupe adventurers looking for a thrill? How about a guided hike on the Soufrière volcano? For those who don't know, the Soufrière volcano is still active, although it last erupted in 1977!

On this guided hike on the Soufrière volcano, you'll embark on a 5? hour effort... as you make your way to the summit, you'll discover some exceptional volcanic landscapes! Once you've been fitted with a special mask, you'll be able to get close to its most active zone, with several fumaroles and continuous outgassing: a unique experience in Guadeloupe, impossible to achieve on an unguided hike!

Whether you're on your own, with friends or family, this guided tour of La Soufrière starts at the Bains Jaunes. This area resembles a swimming pool built around a spring of water heated by the Soufrière volcano, located in the heights of Saint-Claude (don't forget to bring your swimming trunks, you can swim in the baths on your return from the hike: pure bliss!) Next, you'll reach the Savane des Mulets. Here, nature offers a breathtaking panorama of the summit of the Soufrière volcano, the Caribbean Sea below and, in the distance, the Saintes archipelago! Finally, for the bravest among you, you'll make the final ascent to the crater... the exclusive advantage of this guided walk on the Soufrière volcano is that you can get right up close to the crater, in complete safety!

Please note: the weather is often capricious on the heights of Basse-Terre, making the Soufrière volcano one of the wettest areas in the world... so it's essential to have a large mackintosh in your bag, just in case!

Holidaymakers with a thirst for adventure and a change of scenery, the Vert Intense guides are on hand to accompany you throughout your guided hike on the Soufrière volcano... the aim? To teach you everything there is to know about the Guadeloupe National Park: its specific vegetation as well as volcanism and its impact on the fauna.

If for you, fun is synonymous with challenging yourself and discovering new things, then a guided hike on the Soufrière volcano is just the activity you need to complete your stay in Guadeloupe... see you at the summit!

I was curious about the level. It is heavy for someone who doesn’t do much in sports, but you will manage.

The hike was fantastic, and it took us 3h30min only, even though we didn't rush, probably because we were only 3 people plus the guide, and the 5 hour estimate is based on groups of up to 12 people.

The volcano is very beautiful with a jagged top. The hike was exhilarating and the views into the smoking sulphorous pits of the volcano were only rivaled by the fantastic views of the whole island!
