Activity description

Enjoy north-east Iceland and visit the waterfalls and fjords from Akureyri!

Accompanied by a guide, you'll discover magnificent sites and views in the north-east of the country. Climb aboard and prepare your eyes and ears for magnificent views of the Arctic fjords and the thundering sound of gushing waterfalls!

When you arrive at the meeting point, you'll meet your guide, who will accompany you on the tour. He or she will explain how the activity works and then your day will begin.

Your itinerary begins along the coast of Eyjafjordur, one of Iceland's longest fjords. Your first stop is the spectacular 12m Goðafoss waterfall.

The next stop will take you to the many sights of Lake Mývatn. On this loop around the lake, you'll stop first at the Skútustaðagígar craters, then at the Dimmuborgir lava formations. These are among the most popular tourist attractions in the Mývatn region...

Explore and admire nature's volcanic caves! As you circumnavigate Lake Mývatn, you'll also visit the Grjótagjá rift, an ancient natural bathing spot.

The next stop is one of the most iconic waterfalls in the whole of Europe. Dettifoss is one of the most powerful waterfalls on the continent, and you'll have the chance to get up close to it...

Afterwards, you'll have the chance to swim in the region's geothermal waters, so don't forget to pack your swimming costumes! For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there's a restaurant nearby. Once you've dried off, you'll be back on the road to Akureyri, with one last stop in front of Eyjafjordur for a panoramic photo before heading home.

On this road-trip, you'll make a loop and stop at the most emblematic watering holes, so don't forget to bring your camera to capture these magnificent landscapes!
