Take a guided minibus tour of southern Iceland and discover the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon from Reykjavík!
An ideal getaway if you are staying in Reykjavík and want to visit the south of Iceland for a day, this excursion to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon will allow you to discover not only this impressive glacier lagoon, but also a number of other equally magnificent sites in the south of the country. Offering breathtaking scenery between lava fields and glaciers, this minibus tour for up to 19 participants will take you for 14 hours along the famous Road 1 from Reykjavík to Jökulsárlón and the sublime Diamond Beach.
Weather permitting, your trip to Jökulsárlón from Reykjavík will take you first to the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, which can be visited along a footpath. You will then make your way to the highlight of the adventure, Lake Jökulsárlón, where icebergs from Vatnajökull, the island's largest ice cap, float. You will also take advantage of this stop to walk along the Diamond Beach, between the icebergs scattered across its black sand, before finally heading back to the capital via Hofskirkja, Vík í Mýrdal and the Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
Led by a passionate guide who will tell you all about the history and geology of the different sites visited, this excursion to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon from Reykjavík will make your stay in Iceland even more memorable!
- Pick-up in Reykjavík (may take up to 30 minutes)
- Approx. 1.5 hour drive by minibus to Hvolsvöllur for a short break
- Weather permitting, stop off at the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon (around 2 hours' drive) before taking a break at Kirkjubæjarklaustur
- On to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (approx. 1.5 hours' drive), the main attraction of the tour, with the chance to go for a walk on the famous Diamond Beach
- Return by minibus to Reykjavík, stopping on the way at Hofskirkja to visit an old turf church, then at Vík í Mýrdal (approx. 2 hours' drive from Hofskirkja), and finally at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall (approx. 50 minutes' drive from Vík)
Activity requirements

It is very important to wear warm clothing, preferably waterproof, and good hiking boots so that you can enjoy the excursion to the full.
