If youare a fan of hiking and exploring beautiful places on foot, you can't go wrong with this amazing snowshoe hike in the Oslo Forest! Known as one of the greenest cities in the world, Oslo is surrounded by parks, forested hills, fjords, rivers, islands and beaches. This natural environment makes the city an incredible hub for outdoor experiences. And during the winter, when the city and its surroundings are covered in snow, there's no better way to explore them than with specialised equipment like snowshoes.
On the day of your snowshoeing excursion in the Oslo Forest, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in front of the café outside Backstube Opera. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will explain how the activity will work and how to stay safe as you walk in the snow. They will also distribute the snowshoes and poles necessary for the experience.
Once you're ready, it's time to go! You'll take the metro toward the chosen starting point of the experience. When you arrive at the right spot, you'll put on the snowshoes and quickly learn how to use them. Next, it's time for your instructor to guide you through the forest and tell you interesting stories about the region. The forest is full of Nordic wildlife, so you and your instructor can be on the alert for deer, foxes, and more unique animals that might cross your path. When the time for the experience ends, you'll ride back to the original meeting point, return the equipment, and say goodbye to the expert who accompanied you during the day.
Please keep in mind that the temperature in Oslo can reach up to -5 degrees, so be sure to come prepared with warm winter clothing and good-quality snow boots (no winter shoes will be provided). You should also bring a hat, scarf, your camera or smartphone, water, snacks, and anything else you might need (medication, extra layers, etc.) to spend an amazing 3.5 hours on this snowshoe hike through the Oslo forest.
