Activity description

Embark upon an unforgettable Arctic adventure on this 3.5-hour snowmobiling excursion in Svalbard from Longyearbyen! Welcoming beginners and explorers ages 8 and up.

The legendary archipelago of Svalbard is located in the Arctic Ocean between Norway and the North Pole. Renowned for its Polar climate, pristine Arctic wilderness, awe-inspiring mountains and glaciers as well as its biodiversity, Svalbard is a premier travel destination for those seeking an authentic Arctic experience! The largest settlement and administrative centre of Svalbard is Longyearbyen, the largest island in the archipelago. If you're looking for a thrilling way to explore the snow-covered landscapes of Longyearbyen, snowmobiling in Svalbard is for you!

Your adventure snowmobiling in Svalbard begins after being picked from your accommodations in Longyearbyen (please specify when booking). Upon arrival at the base, you and your group (a maximum of 30 participants) will be greeted by your experienced instructor and will receive a safety and itinerary briefing. Once you've geared up in a thermal suit, boots, gloves, goggles, balaclava, and mittens, you'll be provided with an introduction to snowmobiling and snowmobile driving techniques. Now, the fun starts!

You'll feel a rush like none other as you set off into the Arctic landscapes of  Longyearbyen on your electric snowmobile. Unlike a regular snowmobile, the electric model drives smoothly and silently, minimizing the environmental impact. Take in the wondrous terrain as you travel to the scenic Advent Valley. En route, you'll make several stops at historic locations including the Northern Lights Station and Operafjellet Mountain. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the history of these locales. Don't forget to keep a lookout for wildlife along the way! If you're lucky you may see reindeer from a distance.

The next stop on your tour snowmobiling in Svalbard is Advent Lodge, where you'll be treated to hot drinks and biscuits as you warm up in a heated cabin. Refreshed, you'll return to the original departure point in Longyearbyen with lifelong memories of snowmobiling in Svalbard!
