The dog sledding adventure takes place in Kvaløya, a beautiful island located in the Troms og Finnmark county near the city of Tromsø in Norway. The island features stunning coastal scenery and mountain landscapes.

For this activity, you will be picked up from the starting point in the city of Tromsø and driven to the dog kennels on Kvaløya Island. Upon arrival, you'll meet the adorable and friendly husky dogs and puppies! After some time playing and interacting with the huskies, you'll get prepared for the dog sledding ride. The experience guide will take you through a safety briefing, before you get set up on the sled.

For this activity, you'll share the sled between two and sit as passengers. The experienced musher will drive the team of dogs through the snowy winter wonderland. As you ride past the forests, mountains, and fjords, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the views! There will be plenty of opportunities to capture some amazing photos.

After the dog sledding excursion, you'll return to the kennels. Then, a delicious hot lunch will be served in a cosy gamme-hut. While sitting around an open fire you'll enjoy Bidos (a traditional Sami reindeer dish), chocolate cake, coffee and tea. The guide will also share some insights about the Alaskan Huskies and teach you about the breed. After saying goodbye to your new furry friends, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Tromsø.

Practical information

For this activity, the sled will be driven by the experienced guide and you will sit in the sled as a passenger (usually two passengers per sled).

This tour is most suited for guests who want a more relaxed experience, such as families with children, or elderly passengers.

- Arrive at the starting point in Tromsø

- Meet the guide

- Drive to the kennel in Kvaløya (approximately 25 minutes)

- Meet the dogs (approximately 45 minutes)

- Safety briefing and set up the sled

- The dog sledding adventure begins!

- Dog sledding excursion for approximately 45 minutes

- Arrive back at the kennel

- Enjoy lunch (approximately 50 minutes)

- Return drive to the starting point in Tromsø (approximately 25 minutes)

Total distance for dog sledding: approximately 4 km / 2.5 mi

Activity requirements

This option does not have an age limit and is suitable for special-needs clients. Children younger than 3 are free of charge.

Special terms

This activity includes transportation from Tromsø to the kennel in Kvaløya. Please arrive at the starting point at least 15 minutes before the activity start time.

Fantastic experiance meeting the beautiful dogs and being taken around the countryside by them. Everything was well organised and ran like clockwork. The staff were all brilliant and nothing was too much trouble and all questions were answered fully and informatively.

This event actually made our holiday, the sledding trip was really good. The dogs worked hard but enjoyed the work they were doing. They responded to Edith’s (our musher) commands and you could see that she loved them as much as they loved her. Our guide Juan, was the perfect host, explaining all the workings of the facility and introducing us to some of the dogs. Lunch was provided and it’s was very tasty. Would highly recommend the whole experience, you sled through some amazing scenery.

One Hour Husky sledding , it was incredible nice to be outside in snow by sunrise! The dogs, nature, our lunch also! Our guide was friendly and told us very interesting stories about Country and dogs!
