Known for its dramatic coastal scenery and majestic mountains, Kvaløya provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable winter experience, where you can ride your sled and glide along snowy trails behind your huskies.

The adventure begins at the starting point in Tromsø, where you will meet your experienced guide. For your convenience, they will drive you to the kennels located on Kvaløya Island and during the trip you can relax and admire the snow-covered landscapes. Upon arrival, you'll meet the adorable husky dogs and puppies! Then, the guide will take you through a safety briefing and teach you how to drive your own team of dogs. Don’t worry, no previous dog sledding experience is required, you just need to have a good physical condition and follow your musher's instructions to enjoy this adventure!

With the help of your guide, you'll get set up with your sled and team of huskies. Each sled will be shared between two participants, with one driver and one passenger and the chance to switch midway. Once everyone is ready, your dog sledding excursion in Kvaløya begins! Following the instructor, you'll ride through the beautiful mountain landscape of Kvaløya, enjoying every minute of this thrilling excursion. Halfway through the tour, you'll stop for a break and switch positions on the sled. Then, you'll drive back to the kennels and unharness the dogs from the sled.

At the camp, you'll enjoy a hot lunch by the open fire in a cosy gamme-hut, where you will enjoy Bidos (a traditional Sami reindeer stew), a delicious chocolate cake dessert, coffee and tea. After bidding farewell to your new furry friends, you'll be driven back to Tromsø, filled with memories of an extraordinary dog sledding excursion in Kvaløya.

The location, grounds, scenery, employees, safety, food, and most of all dogs and sledding were all wonderful!

Fantastic experience: we were provided with thermal suits and after a brief training we met the dogs and started our “journey “. It was so much fun, and the dogs too were obviously excited and enjoying themselves. I enjoyed both the half route where I was “driving” and the second half just enjoying the route and the views. Our guide, Bram, was amazing and so was a girl working with him, sadly I don’t remember the name, that helped us with the preparation and also served us nice food and hot drinks at the end of the activity. We had also a chance to spend time with the dogs at the end, including some puppies, and they are all super friendly and cute. I really enjoyed it!
