This activity takes place in Kvaløya, a stunning island located near the city of Tromsø in Northern Norway. It is the fifth largest island in mainland Norway and is known for its breathtaking natural landscapes, outdoor recreational opportunities, and vibrant local culture.

The adventure begins at the starting point in Tromsø, where you'll meet your experienced guide and set off on a 25-minute drive to Kvaløya Island. There, you'll tour the kennel and meet the dogs before receiving your winter clothing and snowshoeing equipment (thermal overalls, boots, snowshoes, and poles). After some time cuddling and playing with the affectionate Alaskan Husky dogs and puppies, you'll prepare for the hike!

One or two huskies will accompany you on your trip through the wilderness. Following the guide, you'll set off into the beautiful Arctic nature. During the excursion, you'll see the magnificent fjords and mountains surrounding Tromsø. You might even spot native wildlife such as reindeer, moose, and different species of birds.

Weather permitting, you'll stop for a break. The guide will build a fire and serve some hot drinks and delicious chocolate cake! You'll relax on reindeer pelts and enjoy the tranquil environment before returning to the kennel. After saying goodbye to your furry friends, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Tromsø.

Course of events

- Arrive at the meeting point in Tromsø at least 15 minutes before the activity start time

- Meet the guide

- Drive to the kennels in Kvaløya (approximately 25 minutes)

- Visit the dog yard and meet the Alaskan Huskies

- Receive safety briefing and equipment (thermal overalls, boots, snowshoes, and poles)

- The snowshoeing adventure begins!

- Hike through the wilderness for approximately 1.5 - 2 hours

- Stop for a break midway

- Enjoy hot drinks and snacks around a campfire

- Return to the kennels

- Return drive to the starting point in Tromsø (approximately 25 minutes)

A fun experience. Definitely was more tiring than I was expecting it to be but was something different and very enjoyable. Seeing the huskies afterwards made it all worth it!

It was a great walk in the snow, the snowshoes took some time to get used to but the guide was great at helping you put them on. The group wasn't big so you could enjoy the activity. The views are amazing and the walk is very enjoyable.

A wonderful experience if hiking outdoors is something you're into. Definitely a great experience, even for a first timer like myself. Getting to see parts of nature that aren't accessible was a treat. Added bonus to be able to have a retired sled dog join us and pull us along!
