Self-Drive Dog Sledding, Snowmobiling and Northern Lights from Tromsø

You should plan to spend around 10 hours on this activity:

• Arrival at the meeting point in Tromsø
• Hop on the bus
• Embark on a 90-minute scenic ride to Camp Tamok
• Introduction to your instructor
• Safety briefing and dog sledding introduction
• Start of your self-drive dog sledding safari!
• Switch drivers midway
• Return to the camp for a warm meal (two-course dinner)
• Northern Lights presentation & storytelling
• Safety briefing and introduction for snowmobiling
• The Northern Lights Snowmobile adventure begins!
• Switch drivers halfway (only for adults with a valid driver's license)
• Stops for pictures
• Equipment return
• Scenic ride back to Tromsø
• Drop-off at the original meeting point and end of the activity

Please be advised that snowmobile drivers need to be minimum 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license with them (physical).

To participate in this activity, you need a moderate level of physical fitness. You should be able to sit comfortably for extended periods and have sufficient strength and coordination to operate the snowmobile controls. Additionally, you should be prepared for outdoor weather conditions, which can be harsh and unpredictable during the Arctic winter. Temperatures often drop below freezing, with averages ranging from -10°C to -20°C.

Drivers and passengers must be a minimum 130cm in height to meet the safety requirements.

The maximum weight to participate in this activity is 120 kg.

Kindly note that the overall time spent on the snowmobiles differs depending on the snow and weather conditions. Due to the dramatic topography, a reduced speed is maintained during some parts of the tour. Keep in mind that each snowmobile has space for 2 people, a driver and a passenger.

Good physical fitness and strength is required for the dog sledding. Although the dogs are well-trained and love to run, teamwork is needed duirng the ride as drivers will have to help and push the sled together with the pack uphill and downhill. The trail can be narrow and have sharp bends, which requires a good balance to steer the sled. The guides are entitled to deny drivers and passengers from joining this tour for health and safety reasons.

If you have any dietary restrictions, please let your instructor know upon booking. If you don't notify the instructor in advance, you will be charged an extra fee.

This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.

Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity depend on weather conditions. Due to unforeseen meteorological occurrences, your itinerary might be shorter or take a different path than usual for your safety.
