Combine diverse winter experiences for a fulsome day in the snowy wonderland of Northern Norway, situated north of the Arctic Circle. Set among high mountains and a snow-covered valley, the Ice Domes are home to some incredible ice sculptures and impressive snow carvings. On the other hand, reindeer herding has been a tradition of the Sámi people, the only indigenous people in Europe, that survives until today, and that you can discover in the wilderness near Tromsø!
Your reindeer sledging and ice dome experience in Tromsø begins with a pick-up from the city centre, where you will embark on a 90-minute scenic ride to the Camp Tamok wilderness centre, admiring the mesmerising landscapes and white-washed mountains of the Arctic. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your expert instructor and set off to the Sámi camp by minibus. You will then meet the Indigenous reindeer herders, and try the most traditional form of transport in the North, reindeer sledging!
Along the way, your Sámi guide will introduce you to lasso throwing, share some stories and insights about the ancient Sami culture and their connection to the reindeer. Once the ride is over, you'll get to feed and spend time with the adorable reindeer from up close.
After the reindeer sledging excursion, you will relax by the roaring fire in a traditional lávvu and enjoy a delicious and locally produced warm meal. Once you've recharged, your adventure will continue towards the Snow Sculpture Park, where you will discover the magic of the snow and ice sculptures. Wander around the mesmerising displays of snow and ice sculptures, a snow maze, and explore the two incredible domes that give the park its name. Marvel at the amazing art coming to life with clever lighting, and enjoy all of this in the stunning natural Arctic surroundings of northern Norway. You will also have some free time to cuddle with the huskies near the Snow Park before heading back to the original meeting point for the end of your reindeer sledging and Ice Domes Snow Park visit from Tromsø.
Book your reindeer sledging and Ice Domes Visit from Tromsø, and enjoy a combined adventure where you'll meet the majestic and legendary creatures of the Arctic and marvel at some impressive icy architecture! You won't regret it.
